Happy holidays babes! Christmas comes fast and then goes, leaving behind a trail of cookies and left over turkey. This year I got to spend it with my boyfriend, his family, my moms side of the family and my dads side whom I have not seen in over a year. Overall it was a great time and I couldn’t be happier with how this year is ending.
In the past Christmas was an iffy time of the year for me. I never knew if my dad was going to be no where to be found, or there but only there after a drug fest and was detoxing. Or recently saying he was going to show up and take me and my brother out for coffee, and never showing up. But this year, I found myself in the room with him after not talking or seeing him for over a year and finally stood my ground. I now know he’s not worth my time and not worth ruining my memories of the holidays. This time of year can be painful for others in different ways and it can be hard to find the good in anything. If this time of year is particularly hard for you, I am so sorry and I wish you find happiness in whatever form that may be.
This year my boyfriends grandparents took all of us to Frankenmuth where we got to tour the town and shop as secret Santa’s. Being a secret Santa was a lot of fun for us and it made gift shopping for them much easier. All the gifts were from them but we (their two daughters, the grandkids and their significant others) drew names from a hat and shopped for them with a set budget. I don’t know what was more fun, shopping for someone or watching them open what you picked out for them on Christmas day. I was truly shocked and awestruck at what my secret Santa picked out for me. Considering how well it went this year and how much everyone loved doing it, it will most likely be the way its done from now on.
I know the gifts that the holidays bring are not the most important thing but it sure is fun to give and receive them. So, I thought it would be fun to share what I got in a blog post for you to see and maybe get a little inspiration for next year. I certainly was not expecting any of the amazing gifts I received but I couldn’t be more grateful for all the gifts that suit me perfectly.
This post is turning out longer than I anticipated so here I will leave you to scroll through the pictures of what I received this year. I hope you all had a good Christmas or whatever you may celebrate and take happiness into the new year.
